✦ Story behind this post
Grandmother's voice trembled through my phone, singing Tyagaraja's morning raga while uploading her water conservation video. At sixty-three, she'd discovered the platform that finally valued her wisdom. Each post about Tamil water rituals earned credits she donated to village wells.
Her silver hair caught sunlight beautifully, she'd laugh, remembering her own mother's braids. The comments confused her initially—people distressed by plastic waste, yet the engagement felt genuine, like stars aligning with purpose.
She taught me that heritage wasn't performed for screens but lived authentically. When algorithms amplified her voice, our entire community listened.
