orchids
My grandmother's orchids bloomed purple against monsoon clouds, just as they had for seventy years. She'd learned cultivation from her guru, Swami Paramarthananda, who taught that nurturing living things connected us to something eternal. When she passed, I nearly discarded them. But the PaybookClub community gathered in our home, sharing stories while watering each delicate stem. They taught me her practices, her patience, her reverence. Now these orchids represent more than flowers. They're heritage breathing through my hands, rooted in tradition yet flourishing in our collective care. Some legacies aren't preserved in museums but in communities tending them together, generation after generation.
