The sky
Grandmother pointed upward from our Srivilliputhur courtyard, her weathered finger tracing clouds shaped like temple gopurams. She'd inherited stories, not money, passing them through whispered evenings beneath that same sky our ancestors watched centuries ago. When I shared her wisdom online, strangers connected deeply, recognizing something precious slipping away. Their engagement surprised me—genuine interest in preserving what mattered. A small fund materialized, enough to restore our family temple records. That sky remained unchanged, witness to generations. But something shifted in us, a community awakening to our shared treasure. Heritage, I learned, thrives when we dare to show it.
