Growing up, I have always been comfortable in my own company. While many people thrive on social interactions and feel energized by the presenceof others, I have always found solace in solitude. Some may perceive this as introversion or anti-social behavior, but for me, it is simply a part of who I am.
Being by myself allows me to truly discover and understand myself. When I am alone, I have the opportunity to delve into my thoughts and reflect on my experiences. I can explore my passions, goals, and dreams without any distractions or external influences. It is during these moments that I am able to confront my fears, confront my weaknesses, and determine how I can grow and improve as an individual.
Moreover, being alone allows me to indulge in activities that truly bring me joy. Whether it is reading a captivating book, writing poetry that speaks to my soul, or listening to music that moves me, these solitary moments are when I feel most alive and connected to myself. I am able to fully immerse myself in these activities without being concerned about the opinions or judgments of others. This sense of freedom is liberating and invigorating.
Additionally, being alone nurtures my creativity. In solitude, my mind is uncluttered and open to new ideas and perspectives. I am able to explore my imagination and create without any limitations. I can experiment with different forms of artistic expression and discover my unique voice. Being alone allows me to tap into the depths of my creativity and unleash it onto the world.
Of course, being alone does not mean that I reject all forms of social interaction. I do appreciate the company of others and value the relationships I have in my life. However, I have come to recognize the importance of balancing social engagements with moments of solitude. I need time to recharge, rejuvenate, and reconnect with myself. It is in these moments of self-reflection that I am able to bring my best self to my interactions with others.

✦ Story behind this post
Maya paused before posting the photo. Her Bharatanatyam mudras caught afternoon light perfectly, sweat still glistening from rehearsal. For years, she'd performed for applause. Now algorithms rewarded vulnerability.
The comments flowed—some called it flawless, others awkward in its honesty. She recognized that fatigue in her own eyes, the noble struggle of pursuing art while bills demanded attention.
This platform finally paid artists like her. Yet something felt hollow about commodifying tradition. Her grandmother, a Tamil poet, once said art lived in the space between performance and soul.
Maya smiled, realizing the real reward wasn't coins or likes. It was knowing others saw their own stories reflected in hers, keeping their shared heritage alive together.
