In 1936, picture taker Dorothea Lange shot this picture of a down and out lady, 32-year-old Florence Owens, with a baby and two other of her seven youngsters at a pea-pickers camp in Nipomo, California. Lange snapped the picture, which came to be designated "Transient Mother," for a venture dispatched by the New Arrangement's Government Resettlement Organization (later piece of the Homestead Security Organization) to report the predicament of traveler horticultural specialists. Her picture of Owens before long was distributed in papers, provoking the public authority to convey food help to the Nipomo camp, where a few thousand individuals were eager and residing in foul circumstances; nonetheless, by that point Owens and her family had continued on.
