my love for grounduts
Every morning, Amma grinds fresh groundnuts for chikhalai, their oil releasing memories older than I am. Growing up in Chennai, I watched her hands move with the same grace as the Bharatanatyam dancers at the temple festivals, each gesture purposeful and sacred. Those humble legumes sustained our family through everything. Now, earning through sustainable groundnut farming feels life-changing. What once seemed ordinary became extraordinary, connecting me to ancestral wisdom and Tamil traditions. My children learn our heritage through this work, understanding that true wealth flows from nurturing what grounds us, quite literally.
