As college degrees become more important and more expensive. Many Americans are struggling with payments Many celebrities have spoken out about the difficulties.
However, some have put their money where their mouths are and started programs to help students pay for college.
Nicki Minaj's - The rapper in 2017, tweeted that she would help her followers to pay off student loans in exchange for proof that they were getting A's.
A week later, she shared a list of the debts she had already assisted in repaying. Which included funding summer courses, repaying student debt, and even purchasing expensive textbooks.
Minaj stated that she intends to make this a formal charity.
Beyoncé -Launched the Formation Scholarship program to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the release of her Award-winning album "Lemonade." Four female students studying creative arts, music, literature, or African-American studies will each receive a $25,000 scholarship through the program.The four prize winners were recently announced by the program. Each of the scholars has a 3.5 GPA or higher, and with diverse set of interests.
Jay Z's - Shawn Carter, also known as Jay Z, Beyoncé's husband, established the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund in 2003. The scholarship provides grants ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 to students with a 2.0 GPA or higher who plan to attend any accredited academic institution.
70% of the Scholars come from single-parent households, and 59% live in poverty. Scholarship now attend 100 colleges and universities across the country and applicants can apply for additional funding to study abroad.
LeBron James - The basketball legend helps pay for over 1,000 students to attend the University of Akron through the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF).
Students in the third grade are the first to benefit from the LJFF's services. These students can attend the University of Akron for free if they maintain a 3.0 GPA by their senior year of high school.
