Amma's weathered hands guided mine through the final mudra of Bharatanatyam. Years of quick-witted corrections had shaped me into a dancer worthy of our Tamil heritage. Each movement told centuries of stories my ancestors whispered through time. When the opportunity came to earn PAYBO teaching classical dance, I hesitated. The path seemed expensive, uncertain. But watching young girls discover themselves through these sacred movements—their eyes bright with possibility—I understood Amma's sacrifice wasn't heartbreaking; it was love. Now, mentoring the next generation, I'm wiser. This isn't about individual success. We're preserving something precious, passing flames of culture forward, keeping our community's soul alive through every graceful turn.
