Jade plant
My grandmother's jade plant sat forgotten on the windowsill, much like the Keeladi artifacts buried for centuries. I photographed it one morning, posting carelessly to an app that finally paid creators. The modest earnings felt strange, unearned. Then Mother shared Kannadasan's poem about roots and belonging. Reading his words while holding that plant, I understood something profound. Our heritage isn't distant history or social currency. It's alive in small acts of remembrance, in plants we tend, in stories we share. The money didn't matter anymore. Community did.
