Morning
Asha traced the ancient Tamil Brahmi script in her grandmother's worn notebook, each curve a whispered story from Tamil Nadu. The morning sun painted her small room gold as she deciphered symbols her grandmother had carefully preserved. At the PaybookClub meeting later, Asha shared photographs of the manuscript. Others leaned close, captivated by history breathing through ink and time. An elder woman smiled, recognizing her own family's handwriting. "We are custodians," the woman said softly. Asha nodded, understanding then that preserving these letters meant honoring those who came before, keeping their voices alive within her own hands, her own heritage, their collective memory.
