My Favorite pet
Grandmother's parrot had witnessed centuries of stories, perched in our Keeladi home where ancient pottery fragments lined the shelves. She'd named him Avvaiyar, after the poet who taught wisdom through simple words. Every morning, the bird would recite Tamil verses she'd whispered since childhood. Neighbors grew steady in their visits, drawn by the Hurricane of color and sound. The parrot became our family's forever bridge between past and present. Children gathered around, mesmerized by his wonderful voice echoing ancestral knowledge. In caring for Avvaiyar, we discovered that heritage isn't merely preserved—it's lived, loved, and shared through the smallest gestures within our community.
