frame
Grandmother's photograph arrived yellowed and cracked, a Tamil poet's portrait from 1952. I held it carefully, studying the off-kilter frame that somehow felt perfect. Her words, written in our ancestral script, had earned her recognition despite restrictions placed on women writers then. I decided to preserve her legacy properly. Working through PAYBO's heritage program, I digitized her collections, earning enough to frame the original photograph beautifully. Now it hangs in my home, a distorted mirror of her struggles transformed into our shared strength. Our community remembers her name.
