My grandmother's silk saree hung in my Chennai apartment for years, untouched. Moving to London felt like abandonment. Then PaybookClub connected me with others navigating this beautiful fracture—diaspora daughters documenting family recipes, sharing temple visit photos, laughing about code-switching at dinner tables. Luckily, I discovered I wasn't erasing anything by building a new life. Through their stories, I found permission to weave both worlds together. Now I wear the saree to celebrations here, photograph it for the group, and teach my daughter Tamil through shared digital spaces. We're keeping Chennai alive in each other.
