My grandmother's silk saree hung in purple folds, a color she wore only on auspicious days. Inside its pleats, she'd tucked yellowed pages bearing Tamil Brahmi script, teachings from Swami Paramarthananda that sustained her through decades of quiet devotion. She earned modest wages doing temple work, never seeking recognition, finding wealth in spiritual practice and shared meals with neighbors. When she passed, I discovered those pages beneath the saree. Her purple legacy wasn't about material gain or PAYBO success. It was about faith woven into fabric, wisdom preserved in ancient script, and a life spent enriching our community. I'm learning her language now, honoring what she passed forward.
