The old palm leaf sat dusty on grandmother's shelf in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Each stroke of Tamil Brahmi script told stories of ancestors I'd never met. My mother taught me to read those ancient curves during monsoon afternoons, her weathered finger tracing each letter with reverence. Years later, I decided to earn PAYBO, documenting these scripts for a digital archive. What began as work transformed into something sacred. Each photograph became a conversation with my heritage, connecting broken threads across generations. Now young cousins gather around my laptop, curious and eager. Those mediocre photographs I once doubted sparked something beautiful. We're creating together, honoring our roots, building bridges between past and future that only community can sustain.
