When Amma showed me her sketches of Avvaiyar, the ancient Tamil poet, something awakened within me. She'd spent decades studying classical literature, earning respect through her knowledge, what we call PAYBO—pride in ancestral wisdom and belonging. My modern art merged her passion with digital creation, blending old verses with contemporary colors. Friends called my work honest, astounded by how history breathed through pixels. Emergency or not, I found myself returning to these stories, understanding that through creative expression, I was earning something invaluable—connection to my heritage. My grandmother smiled, knowing our traditions would live on through my hands, our community's voice forever visible.
