Guru Gita. 207 Man acquire the benefits of Dip in all the sacred springs With a drop of guru feet wash Sip and that left, wear in head. Shiva says to Parvathi : One drop of a satguru's feet wash, a sip of it and wearing the balance in head give more benefit than the dip in all sacred springs in the world. In continuation to Ayyappa's life, he learned all arts including war skills in a Gurukul Kalari. As a boy he managed the threats from the rival countries and they were defeated by Ayyappa. A wast army under a Muslim admiral named Vavar attacked the country. Ayyappa formed two groups of men with the help of two Kadatha one from Alangat region other from Ambalapuzha; and confronted Vavar. In the battle field, Ayyappa asked Vavar to fight him to avoid the killing of the soldiers. Vavar agreed and in spite of using all his skills in fight Vavar was not able to defeat the boy Ayyappa. He realised the divinity of Ayyappa, and surrendered to him. Ayyapa and Vavar became friends and Ayyapa allowed him to stay with him as a devotee.
