✦ Story behind this post
My grandmother's trembling fingers traced the tanpura strings as she hummed ancient Carnatic ragas in our cramped apartment. She never sought recognition, only the pure transmission of sound through generations. When I posted her singing online, thousands responded with heart emojis and shares. The modest income helped pay her medical bills without burdening our family.
Yet watching numbers climb felt hollow against Kannadasan's poetry about true wealth. Real richness, he wrote, flows from giving without expectation. My grandmother smiled, unbothered by metrics. She simply continued singing, knowing that someday, someone's granddaughter would inherit these melodies, carrying our lineage forward into eternity, unbroken and sacred.
