Grandmother's weathered hands guided mine through Bharatanatyam's sacred geometry, each mudra a whispered prayer. She taught me Thiruppavai's thirty verses during monsoon afternoons, her voice threading ancient devotion through our modest home. When I performed at the temple festival, strangers approached with genuine warmth, their praise settling into my chest like unexpected grace. Not for accolades, but because something shifted in the audience's eyes—recognition of lineage, of continuity. My doubt dissolved that evening, watching younger girls lean forward, hungry to learn. We were keeping something alive together, one gesture, one word, one generation at a time.
